    Bad Bad Skin

I recorded 2 summer related tutorials right. Right. I just had to edit em and watermark my pics. Then as I was going through my pictures AND video I was very grossed out.

    By my skin eww!!!

It's been going crazy since the heat set in. Ahh! I have very oily skin acne prone skin. I don't think I've ever been without acne related issues for over 7 years now. Either I have a pimple present or I have scars from before. I have olive toned skin and my hyper-pigmentation is bad, my scars last for like 6 months. Before either can go away completely something new happens. In videos I get a lot of compliments on my skin and how "flawless" it looks. And I keep telling you guys it's the camera and lighting. The thing is, I DON'T WANT to show you when I have bad skin, who would? We try to cover up blemishes and unsightly deformations on it from the people we see everyday so why the hell would I want to flaunt a close up of my bad skin on the world wide web? Nothanks.

I have very oily skin but now it's getting flaky! I didn't add anything new to my routine but looks like I need to have some changes. I haven't been taking any medications or changed my diet. I should though...but taco bell has delicious chaluuupas that I can't resist! I don't know how to deal with such flakiness. In the winter time I have combination skin because parts will be normal and some parts oily and the ocaaassional random lil dry spot but nothing compared to this! My nose, forehead, and cheeks are soo flaky! I exfoliated and it made it worse =[

BTW a lot of you ask me what foundation (liquid) I use everyday.

I DO NOT USE FOUNDATION EVERYDAY.

It is too heavy for me and I always get a zit or something from it. I guess my skin might be a little sensitive to it. I put on concealer on my spots and under my eyes and a light dust of powder on my face. By light I mean I don't buff in anything, I use a large fluffy brush.

    So yeah...ew...
    I should not be smiling.

I made this post to ask you guys for suggestions. Please don't recommend ann sort of makeup. If what's underneath isn't doing so hot, what goes on top isn't going to really make a difference to me. I want to look for skin care items. I trust yall will suggest only good things and all the type of items at the stores are confusing me haha. There are soo many! I'm open to drugstore or department store or even international sites. I've never had dry or such sensitive skin so I don't know what exactly to go for. If you can try to go for items that are not too greasy and oil free. What about a vitamin that's perhaps good for the skin. Ye? Know of any that helped you out?

    Thanks =]

Well skin care creams are just a hit or miss case..what works for others usually does not work for me and vice versa..try mixing ripe mashed banana and honey and apply it to your skin..leave it for 20 mins or till it dries( an no making faces)..you can add milk cream to it if you want to (i don't, but that is an option)..it helps my skin a lot..i pretty much have the same issues with my skin..so does my sister..works for us..so hopefully it helps you out too..and wash it off with lukewarm water..

if it works great and if it doesn't then hope it doesn't affect your skin in a bad way..it shouldn't tho as it is all natural..and please make sure you are not allergic to anything

and avoid exfoliating your skin for some time..if you have to use granulated sugar with any fruit pulp and exfoliate

P.S-Please please please post an eyeliner tutorial using gel&/pencil eyeliner on you tube..i totally love the way you line your eyes

I had oily acne prone skin until I turned 22 and then all of a sudden my skin got super dry.

I found that using honey as a mask as well as honey mixed with brown sugar to exfoliate really helped. I used to stray away from products with oil but now with my new found dry skin I need products with oil in them and surprisingly they didn't cause break outs.

I would recommend using jojoba oil over a damp face. Switching to these organic products made such a huge difference for my skin and really got rid of the irritation.

It took me a visit to the derm to find out that the harsh scrubs I'd been using (frequently) to get rid of flaky skin and to stop oil were actually making my skin worse, and drying out my skin & causing little micro-tears that got infected/caused a huge breakout along my jawline. Now I try to limit scrubs to 1-2 times a week (usually just once a week b/c I forget). Adding some regular baking soda to your everyday cleanser makes a cheap, but really gentle exfoliating product. If you want to exfoliate more than just 1-2 times a week, just use a washcloth with your cleanser - or if you can find one of those silicone face scrub thingies, those are pretty gentle on the face as well.

I just started using St. Ives Green Tea face wash & Scrub (sale at CVS this week yo), and both are really gentle & are meant to help treat acne (salicylic acid) and reduce redness.

The Face Shop Spot Eraser helps speed up the healing process/eliminate redness from new pimples, so scarring doesn't last as long. Not that great for old scars though. If your skin is normally oily, look for moisturizers that are oil-free/noncomedogenic - Boscia is good, Biore's dual moisturizer with SPF is also good, and I hear Oil of Olay products are generally good as well.

AMBI fade cream for your scars! I had the EXACT SAME problem with my acne scars lasting like 6-7 months and I have olive skin so old acne scars turn brown on me. I started using this stuff and the scars were fading within 2-3 weeks and totally gone by 6 weeks or so. I only dab it on the dark spots at night before I go to bed, not my whole face or I get greasy. I swear by it!!! You can find it at drugstores-cvs or walgreens and it's only like 5.99. It's seriously my only must have skin product-everything else I switch out all the time. Good luck doll!

I used to have oily skin, but about 2 years back it became dryish. Luckily, I never broke out too bad (with the exception of a patch of acne on one of my cheeks, when I was 16). My sister and best friend have bad acne. My friend just got my sis on the Mary Kay line. It worked so well for him, and its starting to work on my sister. I use the Clinique 3 step, with my Clarisonic Mia. (BTW, the Clarisonic was expensive, but I LOVE it, and would buy it agai. Love it.) Good luck!

omg youre so flawless! Ive seen worse skin trust me (like mine! lol) I fight a war against oily skin everyday and I CANNOT leave the house completely without make up. The least I would go is concealer. Anyhoo, I use Urban Decay's De Slick Spray before I apply makeup and that helps and I recently bought these oil face masks and peel off mask and those 3 products are amazing. Not miracle workers but def something I cant live without. you can check them out on my blog, just click the tag "skincare" and you can find my review on them if you like :)

I get what you're talking about, I have skin problems too -.- . It's like it never really go away, like you said - either there's a new zit or scars from ones before. I detest it!

"I should though...but taco bell has delicious chaluuupas that I can't resist!" - hahaha, sooo me. XD

You're so pretty! But yes taking care of your skin is important.

Spectro Jel is amazing. I've tried high end brands but nothing compares to it. You can buy it at your drugstores I believe and make sure you get the PURPLE one. It balances your pH. There's nothing fancy about it but ever since I've used it I've never broke out (except when I'm having that time of the month). It is a facial wash but be warned as it does not take off makeup but it does its job. At first it might have this erm sterile medical smell but it goes away quite fast and it really improved my skin.

I also use Garnier Fresh Toner. It's gentle, non-oily, and effective. Drugstore too.

Shiseido Pureness line is good but I find it too strong for me, but it might be good if summer is very hot there. I just use the line as my temporary "heavy duty" oil remover. But their pureness matifying moisturizer is great! It's pricey but hydrates without being oily. And dry skin makes oily skin oiler. Only downside to this is it doesn't really matify LOL

Also when you get pimples a bit of salicylic acid is good but don't do it too often. It goes away in 1-3 days but be careful as it is drying and less effective as you use it much. I use shiseido Blemish Clearing Gel which should be a lot cheaper in the states (I think $19).

Tea tree oil (it's not oily!) is also awesome as well. I use tea tree oil shampoo (I hate getting acne on my scalp!) Strangely enough, my bf bought this for me LOL.

I don't totally agree with St. Ives face washes though. Lots of people do recommend them but in the long term they are damaging and too harsh for the other layer of the skin. There is this rough face wash glove you can buy and just add water and facial cleanser and that will be gentle and caring enough.

Also makeup removers make an impact too. This sounds weird but cleansing oil makeup removers are actually better (but only the best ones). You have to wash your face anyways and it removes makeup the best without any tugging. Also it does not totally strip your skin from essential oils (which would make it dry, thus oily because it's trying to rehydrate). Lancome bi-facil works great. I just have to soak a cotton pad and leave it on for 3 seconds and all my makeup is gone (even waterproof). Also a lot of asian base (skincare) brands carry some sort of cleansing oil. Doesn't have to be like Shu Uemura but there are a lot of drugstore Japanese brands that work well. You can go to your local asian store for it.

Very long post but those have improved my skin so much

I have the exact same skin type as you do. I can't remember the last time I had clear skin with out a blemish or a scar. It sounds dramatic but I feel like it ruins my life!

I have the same situation as you. It's summer and my skin is oily as well, but throughout the day my skin starts feeling soo dry and gets really flaky. I've tried to use a cream moisturizer just to see if it can moisturize my skin more instead of having it feel dry. But at the same time I am scared it will clog up my pores.

I was currently using something that I think really helped me though...until I ran out!! I definitely need to order it again and start up on it asap. It's called Zap-it! Deep-Cleaning Astringent Acne Medication. I put this on a cotton ball and swipe it all over my face and I swear, it gets off makeup you thought you already took off! I've bought other drug store Astringent and it's nothing compared to this stuff!! I do recommend you try it out because I feel like it really helped me get all the dead skin cells off and at the same time completely remove my make up.

If you find something that works for you as well, let me know because I am interested!

    Heyy..

I have oily acne prone skin, but for some reason this summer it has started to peel and flake.

    This is what I do:

Before I go to bed I use VITAMIN E, it feels gross but it helps me with my flaky peeling skin.

In the morning I use SPECTRO JEL (the blue bottle). I rub it into my skin then let it sit there for 1 minute. I swear if I use this one my pimples they go away within hours or a day. I loveeeeee this stuff.

After SPECTRO JEL I use ST. IVES APRICOT SCRUB.

I use TONER from THE BODY SHOP... then I moisturize with CETAPHIL... I use it for dry and sensitive skin... even though I have oily skin I feel it controls my oils some home...

I hope something from this helps...

    Take care.

Sorry to hear about you skin huni, though let me add, u still look beautiful!

Anyways im going to throw tonnes of info at you now, only you know your skin better than anyone else, so its upto you, which bit of advise you want to take and which bit to ignore. Its all abit of trial and error really, but i want to stress that; dont over do it, it can make ur skin worst!

A few points to take note; what could you be using that may be cousing this or makin it worst?
    - Mineral oils are no good, bin anything you own that contains this, it will clog up your pores and cause crazy break outs. (aka parafin liquidium)
    - same goes for linalol

Use things that are natural oil based or if you want to use oil free used products with manuka honey or other types so that your moisturiser is actually doing its job.

    - To help minimise scaring, be sure to use an spf! (oil free for u)

Also are you using a toner? a non astringent one perhaps because it wont dry you out, try pure rose water, which will sooth and soften and has a natural anti bacterial property, or pure witch hazel.

Trust me it will make a difference.

IMO i think you should combat one issue at a tym, either the acne or the dryness. Its more time consuming but alot more easier and kinder to your skin.

    1) Some people really rave about oxy10

it really helps get rid of acne completely

Though it will make you loook veryyy dryy.

a doctor could even perscribe you something stronger.

    2) Iv heard that going on a really good contraceptive pill helps with adult acne (if ur nt alredy on it)

What im using at the moment (i have oily/dry combination skin)
I use a product at the moment which i really really like, its the natura bisse oxygen cream, natura bisse oxygen complex, and i use AHA which gently exfoliates my skin without the scrubbing effects.

and as a day time moisturiser im using the elemental herbology facial hydrator (oil free) with spf 12 i think.

Anyway i told you it would be long but i really think that the infor can come to some use for u, msg me if you have ne questions

Hey ma, how u doin? Sorry to hear that that's goin' on with ur skin. My skin changes a lot out here in JP too so since '08, I've had to change shit up since CA is nothin' like it is here. I'm gettin' old also so my skin needs a lil more umph. lol. anyway, here are my overall suggestions:

    1. drink mad water
2: take a skin/hair/nails supplement (GNC carries one)
    3. I've been using Neutrogena's WAVE for deep cleaning and it's defn helping.
    4. it's never to late to start so i'd suggest a night cream that is hydrating. i use oil of olay.
    5. use "calming" face masks to ease watever is inflamming ur skin right now.

hope it helps girl. i would say this is the "affordable" route.

Hey! I've seen a tutorial on Youtube, by Kandee Johnson. She used on a cotton pad some lemon juice and some sugar. You wet your face with warm water so that your pores open and then you scrub all over your face, except the eyes, with the sugar on the pad and the lemon. when the sugar is gone, you let the lemon dry for 1-2 mins and then you wash it out with warm-cold water, to close your pores. Use a moisturizing face cream cause the lemon will dry your face like hell and moisturizing it after this will make it calm a little bit. Let it calm down for few hrs, idk, 2 hours maybe and you'll see the difference. It worked for me, I've had acne for 4 years and it's killing me each time but this is the best thing I found so far. The tip with the lemon and the sugar. It really works :( good luck

ooh and I also suggest to get a Skin Toner from Academie. I don't know if you can buy it online or something, it's a French toner, it helped me a lot it's like a normalizing toner for oily face. it will make your face less oily because it is suppose to reduce the quantity of oil your skin produces.. sorry - BAD ENGLISH!
I woudln't go for drugstore products such as L'Oreal.. they never made a difference on my skin :| EVER! try some natural masks, any fruit you can find, orange, kiwi, apples, lemons, even tomatoes! pput some sugar on top of them and scrub them on your face. Natural products are always better because you know 100% what's in it :|

As for some vitamins. Def vitamin A! that's retinol and it does wonders for the skin!!! you can also try vitamin E you can find in pharmacies. idk :(

You look great. Though I can't from the pictures you posted, I have similar skin issues. It's a seasonal transitional-thing. Once my skin is fine, when the change comes in the Summer or Fall, it'll go haywire.

I just started using an African Black soap (moisturizing shea butter, essential oils) for cleaning for acne-prone skin. So I scaled back on my RoC salicylic acid scrub because it was causing dryness. Always use an SPF daily. Use a concealer on my scars to prevent the sun from darkening them. I stopped using foundation in general to give my skin a break.

My skin was at it's best when I was using products from DHC. Just find what your skin needs.

I will have to try the AMBI fade cream.

Good luck, hope something works for you!

I have super oily acne prone skin. Clinique acne solution system is one of the best selling acne products out there. Just to test it out you can buy the starter kit and see if it works for u. I am pretty sure it will.. As for the acne scars lactic acid peel and glycolic acid peel works wonder for hyperpigmentations. These products can be purchased from the website makeupartistchoice.com. You can watch videos on YT for reviews on the products I mentioned above. Good Luck!!!!!!!!! P.S. don't forget to drink water at least 8-10 times a day...

I feel like desi people always have skin tone problems, and I'm no exception.

I have olive undertones mixed with an awkward pinkish tinge to my skin and my scars absolutely last for-freaking-ever! Not to mention, because my skin is tan, they always show up which is super annoying. And to top it off, I have oily skin as well which absolutely sucks.

For the longest time I struggled with my skin care routine, but I finally found one that works.

Cleanser - Aveeno Skin Brightening Cleanser. Seriously, it works. I usually put it on a exfoliating cotton face pad or one of those exfoliating loofahs for your face and it gets all the dead/dried skin off and brightens my skin. Sometimes for extra exfoliation, I use the regular/original St. Ives scrub for fresh skin.

Toner - I use a rose water toner once a day, usually at night. Its just regular rose water, nothing extra added to it.

Creams - I alternate my creams for morning and night. One cream I always use (morning and night) is the Clearasil 4 Hour Rapid Acne treatment; it has 10% benzoyl peroxide so it seriously prevents all your acne and stops it in it's tracks. In the morning, I sometimes use Olay Regenerist Anti-aging Serum but always use the "Say Yes to Tomatoes facial moisturizer" (in a pump-bottle) over that. The Say Yes to Tomatoes line is a natural line for oily-combination skin and I feel like that moisturizer mattefies my skin without totally over drying it. I absolutely love it! At night I use the "Say Yes to Carrots" DAY TIME cream (in a little tub.) Yes, I know it's daytime, but salicylic acid is more active in the daytime cream than in the night time cream so I chose that one. And yeah, the carrots line is for dry skin, but it really moisturizes my skin well and keeps it soft. It's also helped brighten my skin a lot and help with scarring.

With oily skin, too many oil control products cause your skin to dry, and too many oily products cause you to look like a grease-ball, that's why I just alternate. And it works super well! Just enough oil control, and my skin is healing because all of the vitamins and minerals! Hope that helps!

Watched your youtube videos by the way, love the one on long hair :] I always forget to tease my hair but it shall be in my head now :] or in my hair I guess lol,

I have really oily, acne prone skin as well.

I have found recently a face wash that works for me is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash (the orange one).

At night I follow that up with Clean and Clear's Persa-Gel 10, after it dries and soaks in I apply Korres pomegranate moisturizer. The moisturizer is for combination skin and I find that it works great for the summer - it's not too heavy on the oily areas and moisturizes the dry areas. The only down side is that it is a bit pricey $32.50 at Sephora for 1.something ounces but you don't need much so it ends up lasting a long time. I know it sounds weird to apply moisturizer to oily skin but it is a must. Skin produces oil when it is too dry, and when that happens breakouts follow. So, if the skin is properly moisturized it won't be forced to produce more oil.

In the morning I apply Tea Tree oil to blemishes and then eye drops to take away any redness. I then follow it up with moisturizer. Afterwards I prime and put on my makeup. I know this sounds weird but I actually think that my foundation (bareminerals) helps a little with my skin. *shrug*

And once a week I use the DDF Sulfur Therapeutic Mask. It is also a bit pricey (around $45-48 at Sephora) and it killed me to spend that much money on a mask and it doesn't smell very appealing but it works sooooo well.

I also make it a point to drink as much water as I can and to have a cup of green tea before bed and I DO notice a difference in my skin when I keep that up.

I hope this helps in some way.

Hey girl, you and I have similar skin types and boy do I feel you. I hate how just when you notice some zits going away, a new one comes and the cycle continues :( Sometimes I just dont want to leave the house, I mean acne shouldve been done and over with once I left my teenage years. SO FRUSTRATING!

The only time my skin really clears and looks nice is when I lay out in the sun and swim in a decent salty beach which helps with drying up the acne.

Anyway, along the lines of salt, LUSH has this scrub that can be used for the face and body, I cant quite remember the name but its blue and the main ingredient is salt. Also, I use a very gentile cleanser from philosophy called purity made simple, which seems to have helped a little bit. At least its really gentile and won't cause any new breakouts on your face. I wash my face with it at least twice a day using this scrub thing that I purchased from sephora.

Also, maybe clinique 3 step might help you. I havent had the chance to try it yet but I have heard a lot of good things about.

Hope this helps and sorry for it being so long! :)

I had the same problem as you ..
. But i started to use the aveeno blemish control foam face wash it helped with my acne and made my skin fight against the acne and all my red spots and flakey nose so my skin problems went away .... I also use the cindy crawford cream face mask, it works wonders on the texture of the skin also i use the aveeno spf 15 face moisturizer its a little thick but I mainly only use it around my nose and cheek bones for dryness control and then the rest of the residue on my hand ill spread around my face.... I have more but those are mainly the ones I use all the time that have never failed me ....
